Andrea and Jon Allen founded Onyx in Springdale in 2012, and since 2019 the roastery and training lab have sat in a downtown Rogers headquarters. Each coffee's product page lists what Onyx paid, its score, and the producer. As of October 2026, its lots come from Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Honduras, Kenya, Mexico, Panama, and Peru.
Andrea won the 2020 U.S. Barista Championship, and in 2022 Morgan Eckroth placed second at the World Barista Championship.
