About

Luis Gonzalez and Nathan Kruse ran HI NRG for almost two years as a coffee residency inside the High Treason wine bar on Clement Street, then took over the lease at 5801 Geary Boulevard and opened there on September 23, 2026. Both first worked at The Coffee Movement on Balboa Street. Guest pour-over pop-ups have featured coffees from Tanat, Terraform and Daturra, and the pastries come from Vinegary Personality.

The shop stands on the corner of 22nd Avenue behind a glazed front with red velvet curtains. Turntables, speakers and a disco ball share the room with the bar, which runs along the back wall, and a built-in bench faces a green and cream checkerboard floor. Wine bottles stand on a wall shelf and in the front window.
