The family sent its first coffee export from Tapachula to San Francisco in 1871, and the sixth generation still grows coffee on the same land. Hoodline reported in 2026 that Ikon Coffee in Potrero Hill roasts the beans. At the September 2026 opening, the menu included The Gentle, a naturally low-caffeine varietal grown on the family farm.
At 701 Illinois Street, a corner unit in a corrugated gray metal building opens through a roll-up door to the sidewalk. Inside, a stained plywood canopy with recessed lights drops from the high ceiling over a white curved counter, with bean shelving rising around a wood post.
