Dan Streetman, a green coffee buyer for more than a decade, started roasting at home during the pandemic and sold the first bags from the garage at 726 Cole Street. By 2021, roasting had moved to a commercial machine in Oakland.
The list runs from light to extra dark roasts, with single origins from Ethiopia, Colombia, Burundi, Mexico, El Salvador, and Sumatra, plus house blends and a decaf. Finca San Francisco in El Salvador, a farm Streetman first visited as a buyer, supplied the first coffee under the Bird and Bear name.
